Cultures and Traditions

The purpose of the exhibit titled, “WHAT’S IN A NAME?” was to show the intricate relationship between our names and ourselves as human beings, and to draw library patrons’ attention to the diversity of naming traditions and identity conceptions represented on our campus. The International and Area Studies subject specialists, Dr. Atoma Batoma (African Studies Librarian) and Dr. Laila Hussein Moustafa (Middle East & North African Studies Librarian), who hosted the exhibit, also wanted to show that this diversity is reflected in our University library’s great collections. In order to do so, they displayed a select set of appealing materials by authors from different regions and cultural traditions of the world.
