ACE Undergraduate Soybean for Development Research Internships
Time length: Spring Semester + one summer session
Goal: To conduct research on an aspect of soybean economics
Objectives:
- Complete a 20 page research paper
- Travel to an African study site to collect data
- Become familiar with the area of soybean for development
Supervisors: Dr. Peter Goldsmith, ACE and Ms. Courtney Tamimie, Project Manager, USAID Soybean Innovation Lab
Activities:
- 20 week internship in the Soybean Innovation Lab, Office 218 Mumford Hall
o Salary = $10/ hour
o Ten hours/ week
- Travel for a minimum of two weeks to a SIL field station and/or partner African institution to conduct research
- Become familiar with SIL countries, locations, activities, and partners
- Attend university open seminars on relevant issues of African development
- Attend ACES study Abroad Office training on international travel
- Register for 1-3 credit hours of independent study
- Submit research paper for possible participation in the American Agricultural Economics Association undergraduate research competition
